It's nice to have your ego stroked sometimes
I received a call from this guy at Philips today. I went for an interview abt a year..no a year and a half back. At the interview, he said he was impressed with my website and asked me to briefly run through the site and its contents. I'd like to think that I sucked during the interview. First of all, I was 15 minutes late. And I wasn't appropriately dressed. I wore a shirt, tie and pants, thinking that Philips designers are the corporate types. And because I was late, I was nervous during the interview.
But I received another call from them. This time to be interviewed by the HR manager. Met her, was led to her room, and she asked me to take a seat. And guess what? I choose HER SEAT! Damn, that was stupid. But she's cool abt the faux pas, and it proves to be a great ice breaker. I was relaxed and managed to answer intelligently. So I left, hoping to get an affirmative answer from them. But they sent me a letter saying that because of the economy, they can't hire me.
And today, the manager called me again, saying that he's interested in having me in his team. He said he was still like my work and would like to introduce me to some other people. I like working at Ogilvy. The thing is most of the time, I'm just creating graphics for content updating. There are interesting banners that require conceptual thinking. That kind of work is really fun. And the kind of work I really like doing, mini Flash microsites, are not that many.
So I guess if the package and challenge at Philips are good, I guess I'm ready to switch.
