Would you believe that a wire basket manufacturer owned some of the world's iconic advertising agencies? Ogilvy, Young & Rubicam, J. Walter Thompson, Grey are some of the agencies under WPP. When Martin Sorrell, CEO of WPP, bought Ogilvy & Mather in 1989, David Ogilvy, being a copywriter he is, proclaimed Sorrell as "an odious little jerk." How theatrical.

But no, that is just a part of today's post. Notice the words Ogilvy used..."an odious little jerk." (I just love that word odious. Can't wait to use it.) Odius, translated from the dictionary : Arousing or meriting strong dislike, aversion, or intense displeasure.

Now I think I know why Odi, the dog from cartoon strip Garfield, is named as such. Poor dog.
